Porn Films Collected for Mexican Library

The Filmoteca film library of the National Autonomous University of Mexico has obtained 30 classic Mexican Porn Videos, most of them silent, made between 1920 and 1950. What is even more surprising is in many of them, Priests appear as the subjects!

Some of the titles of the films are “El sueno de Fray Vergazo”, “Historia de un abrigo de mink” and “Las muchachas” and will join the 45,000+ films the library already has stored. The films range from 12-30 minutes long and many of them don’t have a name at all, there is no way to tell who made them.

Until the 1990s, Mexico banned all Porn so many of the film makers used pseudonyms while creating the films, however, people believe the directors were men of wealth because of their access to 35 mm and 16 mm cameras at the time.

Many of the young women in the films most likely worked at brothels and were paid to be in the films. The films are also very explicit, therefor probably only shown at brothels as well.

“Priests appear pretty frequently as subjects” said Guadalupe Ferrer, the library’s film programme director. “It’s Mexican cinema as seen through the eyes of the characters, revealing parts of Mexico” referring to the films documentary value.

The National Autonomous University of Mexico is located in Mexico City and is general considered to have the largest enrollment among universities in the Americas. It was founded on 22 September 1910 by Justo Sierra as a liberal alternative to the Roman Catholic sponsored Royal and Pontifical University of Mexico.
