Love Lessons Learned From Chick Flicks.

In 2010 the term chick-flick is often synonymous with mediocrity, and scares men away from movie theaters with drill sergeant like authority. However, this didn’t always used to be that way – the genre was created for a reason and is a still financial winner despite some of the poorer films that have been created to capitalize off of its craze. So do chick-flicks have anything to teach us about life, love and sex? Let’s take a look at some of the most iconic movies in the genre to see!

Clueless (1993), starring Alicia Silverstone and Amy Heckerling.

Clueless was the vehicle that launched Alicia Silverstone to stardom in the mid-90’s by putting her in sexy clothes and outrageous scenarios. In the end, the movie is designed for you to want Silverstone’s character to fall in love with her ex-stepbrother, which she does. The morale: fuck members of your family tree? Ok, Clueless is a fail. Next…

Eat, Pray, Love (2010), starring Julia Roberts.

The newest film on our list, Eat, Pray, Love is based on the best selling memoir of the same name. If you can afford to quit your job and travel the world seeking inner peace and the perfect date, then this flick is for you. Wait, we can’t afford to do that – so we’ll have to take a pass. Besides, we prefer Internet dating!

Sleepless in Seattle (1993), starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.

Back in 1993, Meg Ryan was considered hot, and Tom Hanks was still a viable box office draw. Clearly, things have changed, but what about the film’s message that you need to try new things including searching the personal ads for love? Now this is a message we can get behind!

So let’s stop here shall we? Because honestly, all this talk of chick flicks has us about ready to watch some free Internet porn to wash the bad taste out of our mouths. Quick, to the porn-mobile Batman!
